Did This “Artist” Intentional Provoke Her Backlash?

Swedish model, Arvida Byström, a digital artist and photographer, decided to appear on camera to promote the Adidas’ Original brand, only to end up receiving backlash and even rape threats for exposing her hairy legs. The 26 year old model is prominent for challenging the social norms of womanhood and gender standards on social media, usually in a hot pink “girly” aesthetics backdrop. She stated, “I think femininity is usually created from our culture so I think everybody can do feminine things, can be feminine. I feel like in today’s society we are very scared of that.” With social issues as feminism being a hot topic, the feedback is of no shock. Let’s be honest: What type of comments do you expect from anonymous youtube commenters? Is this real outrage? Is this art just an attempt at attention whoring or is this indeed a artistic statement?
